Encasa, Haymarket
We love mushrooms right? If you’ve been following on our blogs you’ll know how much we love mushrooms. The moment I saw this on the menu I ordered it straight away because it looked so delicious, and I was right too! Coming back from Melbourne where we had tapas at Movida we tried looking for somewhere in Sydney that also had Spanish tapas, Encasa had a high review rating so we decided to try it out.
Turns out it’s an extremely packed restaurant on weekends but we managed to get a seat after about 30 minutes of waiting. Next time we definitely will be booking.
I loved the sauce, it was Tomato based but had a wood taste to it which made it interesting and somehow addictive, we ended up scooping the whole bowl clean of soup by the time we were done
I love the Tapas dishes here, although they’re obviously no where near as great as Movida they were cheap filling and excellent for a casual eat. These sausages were crispy and full of flavour.
Chilli olive oil? I love the sound of that so it was straight on the order and turned out excellent. Note: The olive oil is very good for dipping bread in! – I ordered bread after seeing how much of it was left over. Next time I come to Encasa I will definitely do the same.
I ordered this after reading many rave reviews about it, I have to agree its a very tasty dish to eat but be warned the plate is ALOT larger than it seems and the potato fills you up very fast.
This was a special that I haven’t seen offered since then, I actually loved it quite a bit so I hope they make it a permanent menu item as they were delicious and reminded me of Croquettes at Movida.
Overall Encasa is a great place for a casual spanish feast with reasonable menu prices, though be warned you should book in advance for weekends!
